There are a lot of "first days" in our lives. . .always a curious blend of total excitement and nervous, seemingly drop-dead dread most of the time!  Getting the first few minutes, hours, or just THAT day completely over with paves the way for calmer waters, smoother seas, in order for each of us to become all that we can be. 

The "firsts" of our lives is a shared experience and that's why seeing our young ones heading out to face the world (as we have come to know it) fills us with such striking empathy.  Through our choked up emotions we know it will all be better in just a little while, but it sure doesn't erase the deeply embedded remembered alarm of our own first days.  Being brave is undeniably a necessary, unstoppable ingredient in the recipe of life.  

I am sure my own innate shyness colors this prism greatly, so I will allow for others who conquer their "firsts" with breezy ease!  And I will admit to some level of envy.
