Summer over?

Back to school week here in these parts. . .no matter what goes on in our lives, we can solidly depend upon the seasons and the turning of the years, marked for most by the school calendar.   The sheer dependability of it all is something we can probably give a big sigh of relief about in these crazy, hazy days of 2011.
Something to be sure about. . .nice.

It's funny and yet so very poignant how it still resonates (the beginning of the school year) even when your child or children have long ago left school and it's simply nothing but a fond, distant memory.  Even if you've never had children (you were in school yourself after all) you may notice that along with this inner clock comes the slow reaching for cook books (Internet for you younger ones) to plan comforting evening meals and a deep urge to decorate the home, transform your surroundings.  Thoughts begin to wander to Pumpkins, Turkeys, and the Grace of the holiday season at the End of the year.
I'm not trying to rush the upcoming season. . .not at all. . .but I truly believe in this "seasonal" phenomenon, especially if you are of the female gender.  Not only does the light begin to change, but the instinctive comforts we create around us come into play.  It began for me this week.  How about you?

The painting above got me thinking about the end of summer. . .I fondly remember my orange bathing suit and the summer treat of eating morning cereal with milk out of those tiny boxes while on vacation.

Happily, each season has its own particular bling.
