Dare We Hope?

The news this afternoon is that the Gulf oil leak has been contained.  I'm almost too afraid to believe it, but if so, and it continues to hold true. . .then perhaps that little black cloud that's been hanging over our heads can disappear for a little while.

Having gone to school literally across the street from the Gulf of Mexico, my heart has been tormented over the last 12 weeks, as I was lucky enough to experience the Gulf (in the late 60's) at its best. . .sailing late afternoons in it's languid waters, (and sometimes quite rough. . .lots of stories there!)  beautiful sunset picnics,  and trips out to Ship Island for the day.

So, I'm hoping the news from the Gulf will start turning around and livelihoods can prosper and continue in that most precious region of our country.  It's been a long 12 weeks for just us bystanders on the cusp. . .imagine how long it feels to the people who live there.
